Adam is the Campaign Director for a US NGO that works on forest protection. In the southeastern USA many natural hardwood forests are being felled and turned into wood pellets that are burned in UK power stations as renewable energy.
This is terrible for wildlife. And because these trees are ancient they hold huge amounts of carbon that is released when they are burned. It’s assumed to be renewable, but it’s actually terrible for climate change. Adam is working with local communities and other national and international NGOs to fight these practices. You can learn more in our forthcoming Voice of Conservation podcast with him.
Here, you see him standing in a clearcut forest, using a drone to survey the damage, and inspiring protestors at a vigil for forests in downtown Atlanta, Georgia, one of the areas affected.
